help on sponsor/co-sponsor

i live in the stae of new jersey...my brother who will be co-sponser lives in the state of virginia. Do i have to reside at my brothers address if he will co-sponser. someone told be i actually had to live with the family member. I am not sure about this. On I-130 i put my new jersey address since my job is here...and put that my wife would live here with me in new jersey. thanks for any help..

You don't have to live with your co-sponsor or even in the same state. The co-sponsor must reside in the US and you will need to provide a photocopy of their status papers along with their Affidavit of Support documents. (US birth certificate or passport bio page, naturalization papers, LPR proof)
