Hey guys,
The more I read, the more confused I am getting on what I am trying to achieve. I had a search of the forum but couldn't come up with my situation. I thank you in advance for taking the time to read this, and hope you can help or make any suggestions.
I am an Australian, and my girl is an American. We both live in our own countries, and have passports for our own countries. She has kids, I do not. We are both divorced.
We want to be together eventually in Australia, but I would like to move over with her for a year or two until we are all ready to all move back to Australia.
My questions are :
1. Where should we get married? Australia or the USA. Is there any upside or downside to marrying in either country.
2. If we marry in the USA, can I do this whilst I enter via the Visa Waver program, or do I need to apply for a particular visa?
3. Once married, can I enter the USA, to live and work for 1 to 2 years, and still be able to return to Australia? I am thinking this is where dual-citizenship comes into play?
4. Can she (and her kids) come back to Australia with me once we are married?
I know this forum is primarly for immigration to the USA, but has anyone been in this situation that can help or offer any advice to how we go about getting together.
