petitioner has to return to embassy for interview?

I have a question and hope someone can help me. My husband had his interview today at the embassy in Greece, he was told that i would have to return. They would like to interview us at the same time. Is this normal procedures? I am living in the states petitoining for him to join me, I read a lot of threads here but i have never seen this one before. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. I have been on a long roller coaster ride and really would like someone's input on this part of the process.
