  • Police Certificates needed ?!

    Hi all,

I've a question re: the certificates that one has to present from all places lived since age 16. I remembe reading from somewhere that if one lived in a country less than a year, this police certificate is not needed?! Am I wrong assuming so?

I'm asking because I've studied as an exchnage student abroad (in 2 different countries) but I stayed less than a year and I was always "registered / on file" in my country of origin. Do I need the police doc from those countries I studied in also? Please say no

Thanks in advance for all your help!

    polie record

You will need a police record from countries you lived in 6 months or longer. Trust me i know my husband had this problem when we started our journey. He had lived in lebanon for 11 months and they wanted a record from there. ON the national visa site it will say 6 months in any other country is not needed but it is wrong because when i called to dispute it they said that it is not correct. We had to have the record and until then we were stuck. It took 3 months to get that police record. So good luck and i hope this helps.

Certificate needed for U.S. as well?

My fiance studied in the U.S. for 11 months. Does she need to get a police certificate from the U.S. as well? I'm in law enforcement and I have no idea how someone would get such a certifcate here.

You can obtain your own FBI records . Try asking the embassy if that would be sufficient for a police certificate from the US.
My Fiancee arrived here on a K-1 VISA.
