  • documents needed

I am new here so if I have posted in the wrong place I am sorry.
I have a question about documents needed.
Do you make copies of the originals, like divorce and birth certifs. and send these and send with the I-129f? and it says to send originals to benificary for their appt. overseas, is this true? Any help would be helpful to us.

Part I of the visa process-Petition submitted by US citizen to USCIS

Everything sent with the petition is a photocopy. They state that they can require originals if they think it's necessary. They would notify you if they wanted to examine any of your originals.

Part II- Visa application submitted by foreign person to Dept of State (Embassy)

It is my understanding and personal experience that the US citizen's documents (original or photocopy) are not needed by the beneficiary to take to his interview. The interview documents are about the beneficiary because he is the one applying for the visa. He will show his original documents like birth certificate, police report, divorce decree and provide them with a photocopy to put in the file. They will give him his originals to take with him after the interview. Anything they need to know about the US citizen is already in the file they received from the USCIS, with the exception of your Affidavit of Support. Financial documents from the US cititzen are taken to the interview to show they meet the requirements to support the intending immigrant.
