Hi there
The household size is not the thing you need to be counting, it's the dependents
to count do the following
** for the person you are actually sponsoring
** for yourself
** for anyone you declared as a dependent on your tax return forms.
Here is the household sizes and amounts you need to meet for sponsoring in 2009
2 18,213
3 22,888
4 27,563
5 32,238
6 36,913
7 41,588
8 46,263
If you do not meet this, then it is actually possible to combine sponsorship with another person despite what you may read. They are not likely to throw out a visa because you have used more than one co-sponsor.
For example...
My fiance doesn't earn enough to sponsor me
Her mother also doesn't earn enough alone to sponsor me
However, her mother and fathers income combined does.... so both mom and dad are filling out I-134's to be my sponsor, as they file their tax returns together, the immigration unit will see they are married and have a combined income, and therefore shouldn't be a problem. They will use common sense when looking at your sponsorship.
