Question about international birth certificate.

When is it required? Can the petition be filed before having this international birth certificate? Currently the NSO of philippines is holding the release of the birth certificate due to an investigation. So I was just wondering if the petition can be filed while we wait for the investigation as well?

My fiancee did not need her birth certificate until the K-1 VISA interview at the embassy.



Try contacting the embassy, they might let you use something else if the birth certificate problems are well known.

I recommend you submit all required paperwork upon initially filing your visa application. Otherwise you can be assured of delays in your processing. It is already a long and drawn out process. Make sure you dot all your I's and cross all your T's in completing the paperwork and supporting documents. If they request a birth certificate on NSO paper than thats what you need to provide. Be prepared and be PATIENT. The visa process is a stressful and emotional process during the waiting period. But true love will prevail. So God bless you and your fiancee. Best of luck.
