I filed for my fiancees visa on Oct 14, 2008. She is from the Philippines. To be percious she is from the island of Mindaneo. They have the Abu Sayaf and MILF groups there. She is in General Santos. This is the southern most part and basically does not experience the terrorist activity often. After the initial six month wiating period had elapsed, I requested an inquiry from USIS. I received a notice stating that they are awaiting security clearance information. After the second six months....Same thing. Same letter. Has anyone else experienced this? Do you think that my visa will eventually be approved. The wait now is in its 13 month. This is hard for the two of us. Is there anything I can do that could speed the process now. For example is it worth involving an attorney at this point since I already filed. I should mention I had the liason officer for our state senator also contact USCIS. She was given the same information I had already received. How long do these security checks take? I will travel again to see her in February if we have not recieved approval by then. This is money I wish I could use otherwise in bringing her to the states. Any words? All thoughts are appreciated. Again, my main concern is that they make us wait so long and then maybe they wont approve the visa. I am seriously considering living in the Philippines cause no one is going to keep what God did for us apart forever. Thanks again for reading and advise you may have.... Mark and Perlie
