hahaha, true that. So, they did indeed mail her the Visa. And she will be arriving here next month (still has somethings to take care of, didn't think wed get it this fast). So i guess the total amount of time to get the Visa was less then what was stated on the governemnt website (5 months, we got ours in a little bit less then 4 months). Hope to anyone that this will give you some sort of idea of the time scheme for the K1 process through a Taiwanese Consulate. =) Thanks for all who gave their support and their wisdom on this case. I look forward to her arrival in America, and if there are any questions regarding K1, I will be more then willing to help answer them for anyone. Id like to thank, Nicole, Bernie and Russell. You guys are just simply amazing =)

whsia - thanks for posting all the info. my fiance and i are going through the process and have a very similar timeline to yours. i submitted an i-129 petition Jan 15 and we have an interview scheduled for this wednesday 14APR2010. looks like you guys were a little faster than us =)
anyways, any last minute interview tips for AIT? do you have any idea what questions were asked? i think she should be fine, all our documents are in but it would be nice to have a heads up or if there were any surprises you encountered.
i assume you'll get married and then go through the whole adjustment of status procedure over the next several months. we should keep in touch and share any helpful tips.
my fiance probably wont come to the U.S for another month or two.Last edited by heyqqqq; 04-12-2010, 12:13 PM.

I wouldn't worry too much. 5 weeks is not too long. if i remember correctly, i received my first NOA around Jan15 and my second NOA Mar02 so that's a little over 6 weeks. after the second NOA it should get forwarded to your fiance's consulate. if you have a case number you might be able to follow up but i'd say it's still to early to start worrying.
good luck!

Congrats and Cheers.
As far as my wife's interview went, we were that last that day. I was able to turn down the TV in the waiting room (adjacent to the interview area) and listen to the whole process. It was fairly straight forward from what I could tell and my wife handled it with ease.

Originally posted by Whsia View Posthahaha, yea, only by a day =). Your fiance is from Taiwan too? haha, if so then i'm glad this timeline had some use after all. As for the interview questions, i asked my girl and she didn't really say much actually. hahaha she said she couldnt' remember what the questions were because she was so nervous. But she got through it either way. This was our third attempt at getting her a visa so in a way it was an all or nothing gambit and it worked out.

Yeah let's keep in touch about what happens next. Let me know if you run into any roadblocks and I'll do the same.

I was anticipating 6-9 months but she just had the interview and they said everything was good to go and they'd mail her the visa shortly. So total it's been about 3 months and she could really come over here soon. She's probably going to work for a little longer and spend some time with family so she'll most likely come around June but still surprised how quickly we go through the visa process (still more to come though once she gets here...).

Wait buddy =) Youre almost done. The NVC is reviewing your stuff for about 2-4 weeks (mine took about a week and a half), then they're goign to forward yours to the consulate and will notify you through mail.

I'm not Taiwanese, I'm from a Vietnamese background but born in the U.S. Located in Minneapolis, MN.
