hahaha, true that. So, they did indeed mail her the Visa. And she will be arriving here next month (still has somethings to take care of, didn't think wed get it this fast). So i guess the total amount of time to get the Visa was less then what was stated on the governemnt website (5 months, we got ours in a little bit less then 4 months). Hope to anyone that this will give you some sort of idea of the time scheme for the K1 process through a Taiwanese Consulate. =) Thanks for all who gave their support and their wisdom on this case. I look forward to her arrival in America, and if there are any questions regarding K1, I will be more then willing to help answer them for anyone. Id like to thank, Nicole, Bernie and Russell. You guys are just simply amazing =)

whsia - thanks for posting all the info. my fiance and i are going through the process and have a very similar timeline to yours. i submitted an i-129 petition Jan 15 and we have an interview scheduled for this wednesday 14APR2010. looks like you guys were a little faster than us =)

anyways, any last minute interview tips for AIT? do you have any idea what questions were asked? i think she should be fine, all our documents are in but it would be nice to have a heads up or if there were any surprises you encountered.

i assume you'll get married and then go through the whole adjustment of status procedure over the next several months. we should keep in touch and share any helpful tips.

my fiance probably wont come to the U.S for another month or two.

            jrlover14-

I wouldn't worry too much. 5 weeks is not too long. if i remember correctly, i received my first NOA around Jan15 and my second NOA Mar02 so that's a little over 6 weeks. after the second NOA it should get forwarded to your fiance's consulate. if you have a case number you might be able to follow up but i'd say it's still to early to start worrying.

            good luck!

They asked my fiance for it during her interview. It wasn't event hat bad, that was the doc that i didn't give her yet because i wanted to be there for her during the interview, but little did i know that from the time she sent in her DS230 form to the time they scheduled thhe interview would be a little bit less than a week hahaha, so i fedex it to her overnight, (took six days...go with UPS). But once she got it, all she did was drop it off and they told her then and there that they'll mail her her visa. I don't think they really look over that too closely because the moment she gave it to the game, he said she should have something in the mail in a couple of days without even looking at it....ionno if thats true or not but thats what happened for us =)

hahaha, yea, only by a day =). Your fiance is from Taiwan too? haha, if so then i'm glad this timeline had some use after all. As for the interview questions, i asked my girl and she didn't really say much actually. hahaha she said she couldnt' remember what the questions were because she was so nervous. But she got through it either way. This was our third attempt at getting her a visa so in a way it was an all or nothing gambit and it worked out.

I would be more then happy to keep in touch over the process. I'll be able to inform you with more details that hopefully will help you and your fiance get closer to each other.

                    Congrats and Cheers.

As far as my wife's interview went, we were that last that day. I was able to turn down the TV in the waiting room (adjacent to the interview area) and listen to the whole process. It was fairly straight forward from what I could tell and my wife handled it with ease.

Yes she's from Taiwan too. Why was it your third attempt? Did you have problems before? I am a little surprised at how fast the process is moving. I was anticipating 6-9 months but she just had the interview and they said everything was good to go and they'd mail her the visa shortly. So total it's been about 3 months and she could really come over here soon. She's probably going to work for a little longer and spend some time with family so she'll most likely come around June but still surprised how quickly we go through the visa process (still more to come though once she gets here...).

Yeah let's keep in touch about what happens next. Let me know if you run into any roadblocks and I'll do the same.

Are you taiwanese yourself?? The reason it was our third was due to her age. You may ask your fiance this, but apparently the older you are and if you are not tied down with responsibilities, the Taiwanese government is afraid of you jumping ship (this was when we applied for the visitor visa and student visa).

Where abouts are you located at? I'm in Las Vegas, Nevada

Wait buddy =) Youre almost done. The NVC is reviewing your stuff for about 2-4 weeks (mine took about a week and a half), then they're goign to forward yours to the consulate and will notify you through mail.

I see. My fiance had a visitor visa from awhile back when she travelled to the U.S. so we haven't had any issues with that in the past. Although, one customs agent in Minneapolis almost didn't allow her entry once and only stamped her passport for a couple weeks. The agents in MSP are prejudice and pretty terrible. She's been flying through L.A or N.Y. with much better luck and no hassle. Anyways, hopefully won't have any issues after marraige and she gets residency here.

I'm not Taiwanese, I'm from a Vietnamese background but born in the U.S. Located in Minneapolis, MN.

yep, just wait jrlover14. if you wanted you could start having your fiance gather documents. birth certificates, police reports, etc....like Whsia said they will be reviewing your case and then will send you another notification that it's forwarded to your fiance's consulate.

after that the consulate should take over and will probably send your fiance instructions of what to gather. is your fiance from Taiwan?
