  • not working-? how much money?

Thanks to all for the valuable opinions you have offered here.

It's time to bring my wife to the US to live so I've checked out all the info available. This is a great source.

My problem- I don't work. I have enough to live comfortably and as a US x-pat I've lived about 20 years out of the country. Now I want to go home but I don't have any relatives willing to sponsor me either.
My question- how much do I have to show in the bank to provide evidence of financial support for the K3 visa?

If someone could tell me this I'd be highly appreciative.

    I'm reading

So related to the thread- affidavit of support- if I don't work then my assets must be 3 to five times more than the poverty level? So say it 22,000 this year for a family of 3- then 5 times is 110,000 , correct?

Yes, that is correct. You must have read the other topic. I was going to point you in that direction.

It is up to the interviewing officer to decide if your financial situation is acceptable. It's somewhat subjective and not quite as cut and dried as "I'm one dollar over the line, so I pass." But in general if you meet the guidelines, you should be okay.
