  • Visa Help

    Hi all.

My wife (british passport) is being offered a job in the US. We have been married 5yrs and live in South Africa (where i was born)

What visa do I apply for as her husband to be able to live in the US with her, and how long is the process on average.

    Thanks

What visa is she being brought in to the US? Does her job have a finite engagement period in the US? If not, are her employers promising an adjustment of her status to that of LPR?

Do you intend to work in the US?

      Thanks for the response.

At the moment they have not said what type of visa they will provide her.
Yes it a permant position we assume it will result in a LPR.

No i dont plan to work in the us to start. just doing some pilot lessons once completed 18mths later i'll look for employment.

Then it seems that you can piggy back on her visa and when she files, with the employer's active participation (labor related) in the adjustment of status to LPR, you will be covered there as well.

Flying, eh? What do you fly (just as a side, I'm AMEL IR)?

Not flying yet always wanted to so decided to do my PPL and then move on to CPL. Was originally interested in HCPL.

But training in South Africa is costly and lengthy. Would prefer to be FAA trained.

Where abouts are u based ?

            Located just SW of KDAB.

Been wanting to join a fly-in Safari in Namibia last year but preferred getting married so I dropped out of the trip that eventually got canceled. Now they are trying again for this June. The plan is to fly in to JNB, get local cert, get the rental ac, and then fly away. But, with WC happening, the options to JNB are getting a bit pricey.

              Wow Daytona nice.

Yeah the WC is nuts and i'm not even into soccer, so gonna try avoid all the footies

I use to live in Nambia when i was a kid, my dad is a Avionics Engineer so been around planes all my life.

Trying to figure out where to go train in the US is kinda mind boggling, once we move we'll be based in Omaha so looking at a few places close to there.
