  • help regarding k3 visa for my spouse

    HI!
I am a US Citizen. I have filed for my spouse I-130 /CR1 for my spouse to come to USA. Some one said that if I now file for K3 Visa for my spouse then my spouse can come here faster then the regualar CR1 process. I am running on a budget and so wanted to know what kind of application do I need to file and what will be the charges that me and my spouse have to pay here in USA and at my spouses home country respscetively for comming to USA. Also wanted to know the time line how soon one can come on CR1 versus K3 +CR1 VISA.
    Please inform.

Help regarding k3 visa for my spouse

It has been my experience that eventhough the k-3 visa is faster the CR-1 is cheaper. Through the National Visa Center it cost $70.00 then $400.00 plus whatever it cost for the medical exam, shots, etc. But the K-3 visa cost $1010.00 fot the adjustment of status. You can check USCIS.com for all of the specific fees related to each under this website go to forms. You can also call them at USCIS 1 800 375 5283 NVC 1 202 663 1225. I hope it helps.

      Thanks Ola,
I appreciate your response to my question. Can you also tell me how soon does a person come in K3 status compared to CR1 status???
Also I was confused which forms I need to pay should I plan for the K3 visa?

Actually it is ~400 for the app, $133 at interview and $1,010 for AOS for a full K3 to LPR process.

          hi

Thanks for the reply. I still have a few more questions.
          1) So what are the forms that me or my spouse needs to fill for the CR1/IR1 VISA in addition to the I-130 and which are the forms that we fill when we go with the K3 process?
          2) Please inform about how much time it takes for the CR1/IR1 and how much time it takes for the K3 for my spouse to come to USA?
          3) If my spouse comes on K3 then can my spouse go back to the home country even before she recieves her permanent residence(I am asking you this since my grandmother in law is not keeping good with her health?)

i am not sure what I should do now

            Hi!
Yesterday I was able to speak to one of the representative from the USCIS office. I asked her what is the time line difference that my spouse can come sooner if I apply for the K3 VISA now once I have already received my CR1/IR1 notice of action. She asked me which office is processing my application and I replied telling the California office. Then she checked the time line for me and she said that she can come here in approximately 5 months on CR1/IR1 and that will be the same time for K3. But she also said that K3 can be faster. But there is no guarantee.
I understand that if I file for K3 and should my spouse come on K3 then I end up paying at least $1200 more after my spouse comes here and plus the additional money that my spouse has to spend to finish the police clearance/medical appointment etc etc...
Does it make sense to spend more money and still come only a little earlier/or around the same time and go through all the hassel?
I also dont understand that why is it that only if we pay the money the spouse can come faster since we are already doing everything official to request our processing? Why cant they come sooner in the same fees? Please comment and suggest...
            Thanks

              Hi!

I am waiting for any suggestions which you guys have.
To me knowing that I-130 and K3 process takes the same time, I would rather remain happy with I130 since I am on a budget.
Please let me know what you guys think about it. Any past experience will be of help.
I would like to know after how many months from the date of filing will the spouse come to USA if they come on I-130 CR1/IR1 Catergory of visa.
              Any suggestions will be appreciated.
