  • Please help needed or suggestions on application submitted in New Delhi

I am a US Citizen and got married in December 2009 in India. I filed I-130 and I-129 for my wife in New Delhi end of January 2010. I filed in New Delhi with the information from other people that its quicker than filing from US.

When I submitted the application, I received a copy of the draft (fee that I paid) with the stamp saying "received". Then the lady who took our application said that I should be getting a response from Mumbai Consulate within a month. It has been over 2 months and we still have not receive any response from them. I emailed them (got no reply) and called them a few times but the only response I got is "its processing".

My concern is that is this normal for them to take this long? Also I have not received any receipt number which I could use to track the status online.

Can someone guide me in the right direction on what do I need to do?

    Thanks for your time.

If you paid by personal check, the receipt number should be on the back of the check. Most times it takes 90 days to get a true response. They are still considered to be within "normal processing time". Next time you call ask the person looking into it if they see the receipt number. Best wishes.
