  • AOS for K1 fiance: Form I-693

    Hello,

I came to the US on a K1-fiancee VISA and married my fiancee in US. I am now applying for Adjustment of Status.

I am confused about the medical examination and vaccination form - I-693.

For my K1, I already did my Medical Examination and Vaccination in India. I also have a record of my Vaccination from India (one vaccine was not available and hence I was not vaccinated for that one vaccine)

    1. Do I need to redo the Medical Examination in US?
    2. Can I just submit a Vaccination Supplement (as per instructions on I-485)? If so, where do I get this supplement and who fills this?

I appreciate your kind help in this regard.

    Thanks!

Short answer is yes you need a New medical in the USA done by a Civil Surgeon. Our Civil Surgeon accepted my wifes foreign Vaccination report as evidence of receiving the proper vaccinations and administered the missing shots. I have talked to a few people who had Civil surgeons not accept foreign Vaccination reports and being forced to take another full set of Vaccinations.

In the instructions for the I-693 it says something about not needing a new medical examination and only needing a vacination report from the Civil surgeon.

My wife tried to use the waver and only had the vacination report done. During the AOS interview they said the I-693 was not complete. I mentioned the waver and got no where, even with a copy of the instructions for them to read.

My wifes Green Card has been delayed several months because of this.
My Fiancee arrived here on a K-1 VISA.
    Conditional GreenCard has been received.
