Hello,
You can probably get the answer to this question by contacting the NVC. Look at /national-visa-center-nvc/ which gives methods in which to make contact with them via phone, email, mail, and fax.

The NVC uses DHL to send their packages around the world. It takes about 4 days transit, if that's what you're asking.
Most K1s pass through the NVC in about 3 days. All they do is assign a case number and forward to the embassy. The NVC for a K1 is the "handoff" from USCIS (petition stage) to the Dept of State (visa stage.)

Can you tell what to expect, since my fiance already have the case number for the application...do I expect for a registered mail or like a packet from DHL or FEDEX from USCIS (I live here in the Philippines) or it will just be an ordinary mail?
The reason why I'm asking cause I work during the day and no one is at home from morning til about 6pm. So I want to make sure If I need to leave a autorization for my neighbor to receive my mail something like that.
Please let me know how it is? Thanks

Your new case number assigned by National Visa Center (NVC) will be MNL YYYY YYYY . It's not the same as your first case number with USCIS. Is that the number you have? MNL number?
The US Embassy Manila will not send anything that has to be signed for. They should mail you a normal letter with instructions for what's next. It is best for you to google the US Embassy Manila and find their official website then look for information on the K or fiance visa. They have their own procedures, but I don't know enough to tell you exactly. I think with Manila, you save all your paperwork and take it to the interview. Many embassys have you mail in forms before they will give you an interview. Some things people have prepared in the past
DS-156 form
DS-156K form
DS-157 form
I-134 form
Also
- NSO Birth Certificate
- NSO CENOMAR
- NBI Clearance Certificate

Is there a big difference if you have NVC first or USCIS case# right away???
The NVC for a K1 is the "handoff" from USCIS (petition stage) to the Dept of State (visa stage.)
Your case goes to the Embassy which is under the Department of State. They give you the MNL number for MaNiLa. A case going to LonDoN would be given a number like LND YYYY XX. Everything you do in the Phils to get your visa will use the MNL number.
EDIT:
Ok, I see that you have not been approved by the California Service Center. He will get a plain letter in the mail when the petition is approved. And the case status online will also show approval . THEN the case goes to the NVC and on to Manila. So it's not time yet for you to hear from Manila or get the new MNL case number until California approves the petition.Last edited by nichole; 07-01-2010, 10:23 AM.

K1 as per IMMIHELP, please clarify qouted note
Hello again,
As I browse the site again today, I just noticed this part when you answered my previous inqury, so this means after my Fiance received the WAC#######, he will still have to wait for a letter, before I receive my MNL###### or the thing for the interview at the embassy???
That highlighted portion is confusing cause an approval from California Service Center is needed before it will be forwarded to NVC then to Manila?
Is it supposed to be USCIS to NVC to MANILA then wait for an approval letter after all the interview if everything is all okay?

Hello!
Thank you for that information, my fiance and I both thinking what will happen next after receiving the receipt of the application (WAC YYYY XX).
Upon checking the status of the application online (USCIS website), before the page shows a lot of circles to track the status, but a week ago, it came to show only 4 circles.. well we actually think that is a good thing.
We all hope that it gets process right away, my fiance and his family hopes i'd get there before the holiday of this year.... I'm praying that too!
Thanks for the clarification.

He gets a receipt in the mail with a WACxxxxxx number on it from USCIS
He can check status online with that WAC number from USCIS
He waits months with no information.
USCIS approves his I-129F petition to bring a fiance to the US.
(He can see online his approval)
USCIS mails him a letter saying his petition is approved. He must save that approval letter because it is very important for later.
USCIS sends his whole file to NVC (Department of State) and it should arrive there in a week.
The USCIS part of this process is now over. The online status doesn't show anything from here on.
NVC (Department of State) gets the file. They assign a case number. This is a Department of State case number since they are a totally different US government agency. USCIS is no longer involved so the WAC number is over.
NVC gives numbers starting with initials that stand for the embassy where the foreign fiance will interview. If fiance will interview in Manilla then the case will be MNLxxxxxxxx.
NVC mails the US citizen a letter saying they have sent his case to Manila.
It should only take 2-3 days at NVC and 4 days to get to embassy in Manila.
Manila receives the MNL YYYY file. It may take them weeks to look at your file because they have so many. The Embassy will send the Filipino fiancée information on how to apply for the K-1 visa, including the medical examination and the visa interview. If your US fiance has a question at this point, he should call Dept of State in the US and not the USCIS.
K-1 visas who have been notified by the Embassy to prepare for their interview can call 1-909-101-7878 (within the Philippines) to schedule an interview appointment at the U.S. Embassy. The cost of the 909 service is P53 per minute; this amount will be charged to your telephone bill.
NOTE: When your case gets approved in California and while you are waiting to hear from the embassy you could look at their website and find out all the things you will need to fill out to apply for your K1 visa and the documents you will have to take to your interview. And you can find out the cost and where to pay for it and how to get your police certificate. And if you've lived in another country, it will be harder to get a police certificate from there also. This forum isn't going to teach you the things about Manila. Find their website. Your US fiance will be getting his I-134 Affidavit of Support filled out and proofs of his income to mail to you in the Phils once the petition goes to NVC. You will have to take that to your interview also. If you and he plan ahead, then you will save time and get to schedule your interview faster because you got all the things you need already before they even send you the letter. When the embassy contacts you, you are prepared with everything.
