  • Birth Certificate

I am a US citizen living over-seas and my fiancé and I are starting the paperwork process for a Fiancé visa. My mother sent me a certified copy of my birth certificate as requested. I received it a few days ago and much to my dismay, realized it's a certified copy from 1984. Some friends have voiced concern that it might have "expired" and will not be valid to use with the USCIS forms.

I called my local embassy and they couldn't give me any positive answer. They recommended I call USCIS in the States but none of the automated menu options were of any help.

Anyone know if my antique certified copy is still valid? Or can anyone point me to a phone number of a helpful and informative office?

    Thanks!

I used an old looking birth certificate. The copy was made in 1987 ( I was born much earlier).

They accepted it no questions asked for the 129F and no question about it when I presented it in the AOS interview.
My Fiancee arrived here on a K-1 VISA.
      Conditional GreenCard has been received.
