Hello all - hoping someone can provide some sort of insight on next steps here.
My wife is Spanish, living in Barcelona. We filed the I-130 in Oct, 2017 and I-129F in Dec 2017. Initially, the apps went to TX, and in MArch 2018 were transferred to VT.
Since at least August 2018, in response to delay inquiries, we've been told that the process is pending security\background checks. This would be for the petitioner, not the beneificiary since we haven't progressed that far. In July, the I-130 was transferred back to TX to 'speed up processing', but on the same day was returned to VT. I received a 797C from TX stating that they 'completed a preliminary review'.
Has anyone experienced such a long delay? We're at 35 months now... one of my senator's offices has been working with me for just about the past 18 months, getting the same info I get. Today I received an email stating I should consider consulting an attorney to see "what, if anything" can be done to move the security check along. I don't know that an attorney could help with that process... any experience with this, anyone?
