  • The fiance process ~ making sure everything is ok

My fiance is in the Uk, and I am in the states. He will be sending his documents to me so I can finish and fill out the fiance petition.

Besides the letter of intent, which he signs, what other documents does he need to sign before sending it to me so I can forward everything? Will he need to sign the biographic form?

I have fill out the K1 Fiance petition,

Each of us fills out a letter of intent and sign.

    Both get loose passport photos

2 biographic forms filled out. One for him, and one for me.

Both have copies of birth certificates, divorce decrees each, proof of photos, tickets stubs, passport copies as proof of relationship, etc, his long form of places resided since 16 years of age.

I write a letter of how we met.

Send in the form stating that all copies are original copies and not altered in any way. (I don't know the form name at this moment)

Am i forgetting anything? I think that's all plus the check for $455 issued from my bank..

Does it matter what kind of clip is used to clip everything together? What does it get sent in? Is it the standard large yellow envelope or Fed Ex?

I know to make two copies of everything before sending. Those who have sent off your information, and were approved what did you do specifically?

Sorry for so many questions, but I want to make sure everything goes ok. We both love each other and want to be married and be together. I don't want to cause a screw up or rejection or delays..any answers that could be helpful would greatly be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

I did a successful UK K1 visa, so I'll make some comments. He now has a green card and we never got held up by missing documents or doing something incorrectly. So I'll just pass on what worked for us.

I have fill out the K1 Fiance petition,

Each of us fills out a letter of intent and sign.

Both get loose passport photos Write full names on back, place in envelope or ziplock bag and staple to a full size paper. Assemble behind the proper G-325A.

2 biographic forms filled out. One for him, and one for me.

Both have copies of birth certificates, Don't need UK birth certificate until his interview

divorce decrees each, The UK divorce decree looks so nondescript that people have had it requested from USCIS because it was overlooked in the package. On the photo copy that I submitted, I used a yellow highlighter on the words "it is hereby certified that the said decree was on the <date>, made final and absolute and that the said marriage was thereby dissolved." Then at the very bottom you can highlight the tiny words "Decree Absolute (Divorce)" Yes, it's okay to highlight things you want them to notice.

proof of photos, tickets stubs, passport copies as proof of relationship, etc, I highlighted things and made notes in red on the photocopies to point out what I was trying to show, such as "Credit card bills showing purchase from Harrods by each of us on the same day." "Passport stamp showing entry into Czech Republic on <date>. He has the same stamp with the same date because we were together." The point of this kind of evidence is to document the requirement that you have met in person within the last two years. The photos and love stories are secondary to showing something dated putting you face to face.

his long form of places resided since 16 years of age. ??? No clue what this is or where it says to include in the petition submission. That will be asked of him when he sends his visa application forms to London, but that is after your petition gets approved and sent to the embassy in London.

I write a letter of how we met. This is actually a continuation of the form I-129F. On question #18, write in the blank box "see attached statement". Then head a blank page with
I-129F Petition, Line 18 (further information)
Statement of how I met my fiance:
Then write your story, sign and date it, and attach it as the last page of the I-129F.

Send in the form stating that all copies are original copies and not altered in any way. (I don't know the form name at this moment) I wrote a cover letter and included that at the end before the signature.

Am i forgetting anything? Be sure and check the form I-129F, Section C, question #2 and answer YES or NO. Many people skip that because they read question #1 about military and think the whole section C is about military and skip on to the next section. Many of petitions have been halted while that oversight is corrected.

Also, do not leave blanks in the form. Use N/A or NONE where appropriate. For example if it asks for his Social Security number or A-number write NONE, since he has none yet. I think some of the newer pdf forms actually put 000-00-0000 in the blank for SSN if you try to type NONE. On questions that ask yes or no, then give a blank box to explain if yes-- If you answered NO, then you can put N/A in the explanation box. Know the difference between use of N/A and NONE.

I think that's all plus the check for $455 issued from my bank.. made out exactly as US Department of Homeland Security

Does it matter what kind of clip is used to clip everything together? What does it get sent in? Is it the standard large yellow envelope or Fed Ex? Don't put in a 3 ring binder or page protectors. They will have to spend time taking it apart. You can hold it together with one of those big binder clips that the sqeezer parts fold down after you've clipped it. I then slipped mine in a folder with a rubber band around the outside, just to keep the pages from flapping around. I used the Priority Mail envelope from the US post office. It's flat and of thin cardboard. Mail with a delivery confirmation.

I know to make two copies of everything before sending. Those who have sent off your information, and were approved what did you do specifically? I copied the entire package as assembled including the check. It is for your reference and not required for any purpose. When you read forums saying to do something, you'll panic and wonder if you remembered to do Section C, #2 or if you forgot to sign your check. If you have a copy, you can look. And should they lose your stuff, you will have an exact duplicate to know how to create it again.

Sorry for so many questions, but I want to make sure everything goes ok. We both love each other and want to be married and be together. I don't want to cause a screw up or rejection or delays..any answers that could be helpful would greatly be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
