  • Medical exam for I-485

Ok I have been reading my paperwork wrong where it says if you came to US on fiance visa you only need to submit your vaccination form not the whole medical. I though that meant my vaccination report I had done here in Australia. I have no idea why I have to have another medical done when I have already had one here by doctors credited to US consulate here. What was the whole point of me having it here if I have to have another one.
Any ways does anyone know how much the cost is in US to have this.
I just paid heaps to have one here.
    Thanks

Ok I have read and re read USCIS site and it says-- if you have had a medical in your country for K1 visa in the last 12 months then you do not require to have another medical in the USA unless you are a class A. All that is required is the vaccination report to be sent in with I-485 AOS This form is a DS-3025 and should be carried with you when you arrive with your sealed envelope. I thought I was going mad but I am correct as long as the medical is within the 12months we do not have to have another medical.

My wife ran in to a bit of a problem here at our civil Surgeon. His aide wanted my wife to do the entire med report (more $) but I held fast to the USCIS guidelines about it being recent and acceptable if within 12 months. When this was going on, the report was barely 2 months old. Naturally, I did not want my wife to take another full test with all other bells and whistles.

So, then the aide switched to wanting my wife to submit to a whole set of vac shots. I was adamantly opposed to it and got my Dr to measure her antibody titers against what the aide claimed my wife needed vac shots for.

Titers came back good enough that the Civil Surgeon finally signed off on the I-693 and today, Aug 9, we had our interview. The AO (adjudicating officer) did bring up the I-693 and he agreed that all was in order. My wife's GC was approved.

I read the same thing in the instructions about only needing the vacination report done but the adjudicator at our interview insisted that my wife needed the medical exam by a US civil surgeon. We were well within the 12 month time frame of her exam for her K-1 VISA.

New medical report mailed and the green card has already arrived.
My Fiancee arrived here on a K-1 VISA.
      Conditional GreenCard has been received.

Sorry guess I worded that wrong in my previous post.

We mailed the medical report and then several months later we received the green card.

Funny thing is that even if we filed AOS today her medical exam for her k-1 VISA would still be less than 12 months old haha.
