  • Can I go abroad without my wife for a long period of time?

    Hi there,

I got my green card through marriage after marrying my wife 7 months ago, what means it is a temporary one, I will not get my final one until next year.
We are currently living in USA. However, my mother was diagnosted with cancer last month and I have decided to go to Europe to be with her during her treatment, which is going to last several months. My wife is planning to stay in the U.S.
My question is, would it be a problem? depending on what happens I may stay in Europe for longer than a year.
    Please Help¡¡¡

      12 months

I think you are allowed to stay outside USA for not longer than 12 months continued period, so go ahead.

You can't stay outside the US for longer than 12 months while on your conditional green card which expires within 2 years. 90 days before that date you need to apply to have conditions removed by filing a I-175 you will also need an AP to be able to re enter the US which you may have done when you filed AOS I-485

He doesn't need AP to get back in. He has a green card and is a resident of the US now.
