  • US Customs/Passport Control

    Hello everyone,

Can anyone who has already successfully entered the U.S. on a K-1 visa please tell me: what documents must a K-1 visa holder present at the U.S. border (I mean at passport control, in the airport)?

    Thanks!

When you enter the US you will have sealed envelope from consulate/embassy and your passport with visa stamped in it.

And you will have an I-94 card that you fill out on the plane. They will keep the brown envelope and give you the lower part of the I-94 (or staple it in your passport.) It will have your 90 days date written on it. You need a photocopy of that to send with your green card application. Write your name on it EXACTLY as shown on your passport and write neatly. Your name gets entered into a database showing your entry from that. When you go to get your Social Security card two weeks later, you will want them to find you in the database. ie, if your passport says Catherine, don't write
      Cathy.
