AOS received

Hey guys as I posted before last week sent off AOS 19th and got email and text on Monday 26th that they had received it, cheque cashed yesterday and today Friday 29th have received NOA I-797 for AOS and EAD. Has been only a week and seems they are on the ball next mail is appointment for biometrics. So woohooo this has moved quite quick, you watch I will jinx it now and it will take ages lol hehe no problem I am used to the waiting lol and am not going anywhere. will use AOS thread now for further progress

Congratulations on your marriage and received notice about your AOS. I just wanted some info because I too am in GA and I am just trying to find out the steps. I recently just got married and I wanted to know when you sent off your AOS, did you file the form for the civil surgeon also. My husband is ready to work but we have to wait on our Marriage Cert so he can file his AOS and EAD. If there is any info you can give me, I would be so grateful.

Hello there well I got married on the 11th Sept so have been here a few weeks now lol we went and got my SSN 3 weeks after our wedding as I was in the system by then and had no trouble doing that and in my married name.
I sent my AOS off 19th October as had to wait for my hubbie to get all his tax together for me and got an email and text back the week later 26th to say they had received it and I would be receiving mail in a week. lol I got the notice I-797 3 days later on Friday 29th. So it has been relatively quick for them to respond. They rejected my AP as i ticked the wrong box but am sending that back in no biggie there.
I went to my civil surgeon in my area which I looked up on USCIS, told him what I needed and he filled out only part 1,2 and 5 for the vaccinations as I had my medical in Australia and that's all that he had to do on the I-693.
Some of the CS over here have tried and made some get full medicals again which is crap. Cost me $50 for him to fill the forms in and put in an envelope never even met him lol. Oh he asked me to go have a flu shot as it is there time here for that so I had another one and that was it.

I hope this helps don't hesitate to ask anything for your hubbie.

Oh as soon as you get your marriage cert get your AOS in ASAP as the cost is going up 23rd November. ok is now $1010 will be 1070

Thanks so much for that info. My husband left his copy of his shots back home but his mom said she would get them and send them to him this week. I pulled up a list of civil surgeons in the area so that shouldn't be a problem. I just hope one here cost $50. Didn't know they were uping the price to $1070 thanks for the heads up on that..Hopefully we can have everything done before the 23rd, that 3 weeks from now..It will be close. We already did the SSN and we are working on getting him his license here. Come to find out he may have to do everything like a brand new license instead of just turning his in to get one here, which is fine. It is good to know someone that is in the same state is going thru the same thing we are going through. Thanks for the info.

Yeah I was told that about my licence it will be like I am a new driver here in Georgia ggrrr have been driving 30 years lol told me I can't get a licence till I get my green card but I have my international one. Glad to be of help if you get his mum to express post will be quicker than normal mail only 3 days then you can get your AOS off quicker.

You can get your license before your green card. I called customer service yesterday and they said that he will have to take the written and vision test. He may have to do a road test but that isn't the case all the time. I guess it depends on which office or county you go to. We will gown down one Saturday morning and see what happens. I printed up the driving manual just in case, so we will see...I have all my tax papers together and I have completed the affadavit of support. Have pretty much everything else..I say go and try for your license again...lol
