My fiance is Indian and had been staying in the UK for three years on a student visa. Through no fault of his own (bar ignorance, please forgive) will now be stamped as overstayed because of some royal mess ups on account of British home office and the postal service.
I am American and will be going to India in January and hopefully we will be getting married there while I am in India. I want to know what I should be doing to get things prepared and if his overstay in Britain will be a problem. He has all the documentation in terms of what Home Office did and the fact that his rejection letter was lost in the mail for over 20 days (which means he missed the 21 days to return to India.)
He is terrified that things will not get sorted out and that this overstay will create a problem.
Some reassurance would be greatly appreciated.
