I've been waiting for 2months to hear about my wife's visa case from the NVC since we have not heard anything back in several months. I send an email to the NVC to see what the wait was and was told that additional processing is being done on our visa case. So my question is what does it mean when the NVC say additional processing is being done to your case?

It means just that they are doing more processing on your file, something may not be there or missing or they are looking into it more if they feel it is suspicious. If they need anything they will RFE you.
