  • Interview Query.

My Visa interview is on next December and my wife is the beneficiary. I have already sent all the original document which they need to the NVC prior to my visa interview. So, I guess I don't have to take any document now. But I have some question regarding Interview.

What kind of question visa officer usually asks? Do I have to take the photocopy of all the documents that I have sent? Do I have to take Pictures of our marriage? Are they gonna ask me about the sponsor? How long does interview process takes? If someone could kind enough answer this questions of mine then I would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

I think some things in the visa process differ from country to country. Since you said you sent the documentation to the NVC? Are you already married to her? Then how are you applying for a fiance visa? I'm a little confused as you can see ..but I'll tell you my story, hopefully it will help you.

After the initial application got approved in the US (my husband-then fiance applied for it there), it was sent to the US embassy in my country and they sent me a letter with information on what papers to bring and the date of the interview. To summarize the papers, I had to provide basic documentation for myself, the Affidavit of Support from my husband and proof of our relationship. Keep in mind that the interview was already scheduled by them so I had to collect all the paperwork by that date.

The interview itself was shorter than I expected, like 5-8 minutes. The officer asked me how we met, how long we've been together, what does he do for a living, what do I do, what I plan on doing when I move to the US. He didn't ask me anything about the "sponsor" - the affidavit of support should cover that. Though I gotta mention, after they fingerprinted me I waited for HOURS till the interview..I got in the embassy around 8:30am and they called me around 1:30pm. But I'm sure that's not what happens usually.

Now I had a photocopy of my birth certificate instead of an original (still don't know why I did that lol), so after the interview they told me to obtain an original birth certificate and told me how to contact them to schedule an appointment when I get it. After I did all that and came back to the embassy the clerk just looked at the birth certificate and told me my visa was approved

    Good luck!
