  • Interview fee, please advise!

    Hello to all!

I am reading the US Embassy site (manila) and it struck me when I saw this information:

"K visa applicants who have been notified by the Embassy to prepare for their interview, must pay the visa application fee of $350 before they can request a visa appointment via the online appointment website or the Visa Call Center"

Does this only apply to someone who will file the K1 application here in Manila? Or the 350 USD is applicable to all who is schedule for an interview, weather the K1 was applied in California by the US citizen petitioner and approved by USCIS ???

Can someone here tell me after you receive your letter from NVC for the medical exam, after paying the medical fee and some vaccination fee, is there anything else I need to pay at the US embassy here in Manila?

    Thanks in advance!

The process for a K1 to become a permanent resident involves many fees.

US citizen pays fee to file the petition with USCIS. That just says she is eligible to apply for a visa.

Then it goes to Manila and your fiance is responsible for applying for the actual visa with the US Dept of State (different government dept from USCIS). She applies with a new set of forms (DS-ZZZ for Dept of State) and pays a fee for the visa and the medical exam.

Then she arrives in the US, marries, and has to apply for her greencard from USCIS (Adjustment of Status to a permanent resident from her K1 status). That fee is $1070.

Her greencard will expire after 2 years because it is a conditional GC. So together you both file for Removal of Conditions and pay $590 and send in lots of paperwork to get her 10-yr. greencard.

Those are today's prices. They could raise the fees.

Everyone going through the process pays the interview fee in Manila.

Look at the US embassy (Manila) website. There are specific intructions for the interview. Some things are not required that other US embassies may require.

One example - there will be a courier fee, to have your visa delivered in the Philippines.
