  • Rescheduling K-1 Visa Appointment

When mailing in our IV-15, we asked that my fiances interview be scheduled after the 12th of January, 2011 as he will be traveling abroad for the holidays from December 15-January 11, 2011. They wrote us a letter on November 9, which didn't even get mailed to us until November 29, which we received yesterday on December 2. They have scheduled my fiances appointment for December 15, the day he leaves to fly abroad. I know you are able to reschedule your appointment, but if you do, does anyone know how long it may take to get a new appointment? Our wedding is in June and we have already reserved venues, flowers, etc. I'm starting to panic.

    Thanks in advance.

I called the London US Embassy to ask about rescheduling and they gave me an e-mail address to write to to explain our situation. I WAS NOT given a code by the gentleman I spoke to. Do I indeed need a code? Has anyone else gotten a response from [email protected] without using a code??

A few people have actually gotten responses but the code is the best way to go. Some have put their LND number and URGENT in the subject line. The code for this week was CIU751JC, but this being Saturday, I don't know if that would work. You could give it a try.

Nicole, I called back a second time and they said absolutely no code was needed. How long should I wait? Should I send an e-mail every other day til I get a response?

Also, on a side note, can my fiance visit me while we are going through this process? I am 99% sure, yes, but just to double check! Thanks for your help!

There is absolutely no regulation against visiting. Anybody can be refused if immigration doesn't believe the visit is for tourist purposes. I never gushed about my fiance, but rather said I was visiting friends and he did the same. Proofs of returning (plane ticket) and anything else that show ties to the home country as reason to go back home are suggested, but we never did that and nobody ever questioned our entries at immigration. I had a talk with US customs and Border Protection once and the guy told me they get suspicious of people that don't look like they have a dime, but are going to be tourists for the full 90 days in the US and who have no job, but aren't students either. And they question those who come too often for long periods of time, effectively "living" in the foreign country for more days than their home country. I also asked if there was any record of a visa in process on the computers at the airport and he said NO.

Thank you for your help with that! We did research before I heard from you and others said the same thing, as long as we show proof he is going back.

I have now sent 4 e-mails to the Embassy with no response. I will try to call again this afternoon, but I know they are going to tell me the same thing. Is there ANYTHING else I can do? How do I know if they are rescheduling our interview?
