  • Interview Query

I have been reading a many different sites that they no longer send the packet. My question is how long is the normal watiing time from when you receive the confirmation from NVC until you receive the packet from the US Embassy to prepare for the interview?

    ---------------------------------------------------------
This is what one site said:
"Packet 4 is no longer delivered but has to be downloaded from the Embassy's website*

    For K Visa applicants:
    - Appointment letter (sent via email) for medical exam and interview
    - DS-156 form (online at DoS)
    - DS-156K form (online at DoS)
    - DS-157 form (online at DoS)
    - I-134 form
    - Instructions for payment of fee, medical exam, location of embassy
Instructions on USEM Manila Website here:

    For CR1/IR1:
    - Appointment letter for interview
    - Instructions for medical exam
    ----------------------------------------------------------

What is the usual process for Manila, Philippines? We received approval on Nov 1, 2010 and confirmation on Nov 10, 2010 from NVC. My fiance has not received any packets of instructions yet. We are just wondering what is the normal time frame?

Any details you have will really help. Thank you!

The Manila embassy will very soon send the person in the United States a letter with instructions on how to call for an interview appointment. There is no packet. Check the Manila embassy website for interview instructions. Ignore any other books or other interview instructions. From now on, follow the Manila embassy procedures.

      Manila Embassy

So the petitioner will be the one to receive the instructions? Do I need the instructions for my fiance to schedule the medical?

He already has everything ready other than the medical. What does he need to be able to complete the medical?

Any extra details about the process from this point on will be a big help.

      Thank you,

      Lauren

The petitioner receives the letter. There isn't much instruction on it, it says to refer to the Manila embassy website. After scheduling the interview, the person going to the interview will receive a confirmation email. You show that email to get into the medical exam. You don't schedule the exam, you just show up.

          Interview

Thank you for all the info.

K-1, K-2, K-3 and K-4 visa applicants, who have been notified by the Embassy to prepare for their interview, should call 1-909-101-7878 (within the Philippines) to schedule an interview appointment at the U.S. Embassy. The cost of the 909 service is U.S. $0.98 per minute; this amount will be charged to your telephone bill.

So once I, the petitioner, will receive the letter from the US Embassy Manila. Since I received the approval from NVC 11/10/2010 about how long until I receive the letter from the US Embassy?

It seems quite long now for almost one month. So when we call that hotline we will just schedule the interview and then when we receive the confirmation email the fiance will use that to go to get hte medical?

Again any and all details will help!
          Thanks!
          Lauren

            Hello Brian,

Your process for some reason must have been different.

Good news my fiancé received the instrustion packet just today from the US Embassy Manila! He still has to pick it up from his house as we are currently not there. Once he picks it up I will give more details about the contents.

            Thank you for the details.

              Hi All!

In regards to the same topic, My US fiance received an email notification 12/02/10 from NVC that our petition has been received at their office and was forwarded to the US embassy here in Manila. However, I just like to know the following information:

1.How long does it take for the packet to be mailed to me here in Manila?
              2.Is there an interview fee?

I'd like to know if there's still an interview fee so that we can prepare for it. My US fiance was the one who filed the application form in California, so we want to make sure if when I receive my interview schedule, I will still have to pay for an interview fee.

              Thanks in advance.

                Interview details

                Hi!

We got the approval notice by email on Nov 1st. I also received the notice from the NVC on Nov 10, 2010. My fiancé just received the instructions from the US Embassy on Dec 8th, at his Pasig, Philippines address. So that was over 1 month waiting time. You have to have that instruction form to be able to complete the medical. The packet was sent by Air 21.

                From the US Embassy Site:
The application fee for a K1 or K2 nonimmigrant visa is US$350, payable only in Philippine pesos at the prevailing exchange rate. There are three ways to pay the K visa application fee: cash payment at any Bank of the Philippine Island (BPI) branch; online payment bill option provided by BPI to their clients; or online payment through Bancnet. When you pay the visa fee, the applicant will be issued, a unique identification number (UID). This visa fee is non-transferrable and is valid for one year. The applicant will need the UID to schedule an appointment.

Once you have paid your visa application fee, you may schedule your appointment for your visa interview. To do so, please visit the U.S. Embassy in Manila’s Visa Information and Appointment Service online at call (632) 982-5555. The Visa Information and Appointment Service is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., except Philippine and U.S. holidays. Callers may speak with
an English-, Tagalog-, Ilocano-, or Cebuano-speaking operator. Applicants, agents or petitioners calling from the United States may also use this service by calling (214) 571-1600.

The instruction packet was only one page giving details about the medical and how to schedule the interview appointment, you would still want to refer to the preparation instructions on the Manila-US Embassy's website.

Good luck to your process! Let me know if you have any other questions.

                    Interview

Once he received the packet he paid the fee at BPI and called the embassy to schedule the interview.

Don't listen to what they say about having to complete the medical before you can even schedule the interview. You don't have to complete it before scheduling, you only have to complete it before the actual interview!

His interview is scheduled for Jan 19, 2011. Also, they said the US citizen can not attend the interview. I will be back in the Philippines on Jan 13th and I wanted to go with him, thought it would help. They won't allow it. Our wedding date is 3/14/11!

We are so happy and excited. Hope all works out for you!

                    Lauren
