I make $26,000 a year income (Minnesota) Average. Pay stub at the end of year said $32,000 with overtime>
$6,000 a year child support (oldest child will be 18, August 2011)
    I have $5,215.39 in a 401k/pension
=37,215.39 (going by end of year pay stub - $43,215.39)

I am a us citizen, my fiance is a uk citizen/England. I am currently looking for word on a friend who would like to co sponsor for us. Yes I know I need a co-sponsor, I am not going to depend on those three to get their stuff together. I am trying to save. I am getting my income taxes done and any refund goes into that as well. How can I save $30,000? If I get a co-sponsor I will be fine.

Doesnt my fiance have to file AOS also within the 90 day period?

Maybe my only option is for him to visit me, get married, go back home, in meantime get my sister to co-sponsor which is hard. SHe and her husband have taxes in 6 different states for each of the businesses they own. Yes they are well off, but the tax thing for them they say would be complicated. My fiance will visit me this summer and he will meet my family then. Maybe that can change their minds? I'm trying, I really am.

So if I qualify at the 100% for the F1 visa (poverty level) then we could still be married, but I would just support him until a co-sponsor is needed for adjustment of status when he needs to get his greencard?

The only other asset I have is a car that I own ($2,000) My 401k is combined stocks, bonds, pension all rolled into one. Can you post the new guidelines?

I can't post the guidelines link or this website admin will delete it or edit my post.

Before I start, your 401K does not add in with your salary like you showed.
      Your current income is $37,215.39
      Your assets are $5,215.39

      For all 7 people, 100% is 33,810 --
You've got income of 37,215.39 . You're over. No problem.

      At 125% you'd need $42,262
      Subtract your income.
      $42,262 - 37,215.39 = $5,215.39 that you are short
      3 x $5,215 = $15,645 needed in assets.

So even at 125% you're not too far off. London will even let your fiance kick in his assets. Does he save? Have a car to sell? Have a rich grandma? Not all consulates allow that but London is easy. There are no guarantees, but for the K-1 in London you just have to convince one guy. It is somewhat subjective. If he knows you're "only on the books" for 4 extras and they are fully successful at supporting themselves and have been for years. In reality for 3 people you would only need $18,500-$23,125 and you are well over that. It's possible he could deem you can support your fiance.

Your sister--it doesn't matter how many states they have taxes in, they only have one federal return. They don't even have to show you their financial information. They can do it all by mailing to London directly to keep it private.

Maybe my only option is for him to visit me, get married, go back home, in meantime get my sister to co-sponsor which is hard.
Huh?. Makes no sense. What's the difference in husband or fiance if you can't get him into the US. Get the K1 and move him here, then worry about the joint sponsor. He won't have to leave. They won't come after him. He just can't work or get a drivers license.

How to save up money for assets??
Do you have an iphone? Premium cable movie channels? Get rid of them and save the money. Look at where you can cut back. I dunno, but it's not totally hopeless. You need to save just for all the expenses to get the visa and greencard. It's thousands of dollars in all with the petition fee (forgot new fee). $350 visa fee, 200 pound medical exam, $1170 greencard fee, travel to London twice for him, moving his stuff here.

It's sounds like for the most part, a co-sponsor would help the short fall needed?

My fiance is saving right now every pay check. As much as he can. I am saving also. Slow, but every bit helps. He is living with family. Got rid of his car, bike. I have basic cable $29 a month, cell phone, but we talk online to save $$$. I use coupons, only buy food that's on sale, etc. I have been doing that from a year ago.

I will let my sister know that. She either knows that or I don't know.

My fiance is planning on visiting me in July along with his daughter, my step daughter to be.

I thought that if I didn't adjust status right away, they would start removal proceedings. Ok, that makes me feel a bit better. I think a co-sponsor would be good to have a base. We are saving as much as we can in the meantime.

        Thanks for your reply.

I want to make sure you understand

          1. Your fiance can't marry you when he visits and then stay. They are beginning to deny adjustments from visa waiver marriages. He does need the K1 visa to come and marry and stay. Then you've got some time before adjustment of status.

          2. If you marry in July and he goes home, you will do an I-130 petition and he will get a CR1 visa. Adjustment of status is built into that one, and you are held to the stricter I-864 Affidavit of support and 125% above poverty limit just to get that visa. His assets won't really be considered like London allows for the K1.

          3. A joint sponsor doesn't just make up for your shortfall. They have to qualify on the full amount based on the number in joint sponsor's family + the immigrant.

It seems like you will qualify now for London, the K1 and I-134 affidavit. You could get started. It'll be probably 8 months before his interview, so you've got all that time before you supply financial information. It's not turned in until the interview for a fiance application.

Yes, I am applying for a K1 visa. My fiance wants to make sure I have a co-sponsor first. He doesnt want me to struggle. And he wants to work to help support me. He is just visiting in July. After a co-sponsor gives their answer I can send in the K1 visa. It's already to go. We want an answer soon, because in November, it will be the 2 year cut-off for requirement to meet. That's also why he wants to visit me.
