Do you need to update yuor Soc Sec Card...

I am sorry if this is in the wrong forum...

My wife came here on a fiance visa, we got married and applied for everything after that. We got the work permit and then got a ss#. On the card it says Valid with Work Authorization #...

She then got her green card 8 months later, so my question is... do we need to get another/updated Social Security Card?? Her Work Authorization ends in April, although it doesn't matter anymore since she has a green card now.

Any help would be great.

Mike I have been told that you can go in and have that removed from SS card but it is not necessary. I have the same on mine too and as it is my number for life and no one will see it I have been advised by a great group I don't have to worry about it at all.

Perhaps you are not required to update the Social Security card, but it is very easy to do, so I would recommend it. I just completed it a week ago for my wife. We showed them the employment authorization card, they typed into their computer for awhile, and now a "clean" Social Security card will arrive in another few days.
