a few more questions
we are appling for adjustent of status on a k-1 and have some questions about the forms
on the i-485 it asks for an A# while imsure I found this before where would I look to ind this number my fiacee also does not have a ss# would be nice if I knew howto get her one o those as well?

It's found on the first receipt (I-797C) that you got after sending in the I-129F petition and the approval notice also.

Social security card can be obtained by a K1 only during the first 75 days in the country. If there's less than 2 weeks remaining validity on the I-94 card or it has expired, then you have to wait for the EAD card or greencard.

Go to a Social Security office with passport and I-94 card and apply in the maidenname just as it is written on the I-94. It's not everyday common to them so many workers are uninformed. If they say not eligible, insist on seeing a supervisor. If you're in the time period, then a K1 can get a SSN. The card will say not valid for work, but once you have the greencard, go back and get that taken off and change to the married name if a woman. Take marriage certificate to show name change. Also apply for the greencard in married name and it will show the name change too. If you fill out a SS-5 application (print from online Social Security website) check the box that says work authorized. A K1 is "work authorized by SS standards, but you can't actually work until you get an EAD card or greencard from DHS (Dept of Homeland Security) which is over USCIS.
