    Just an update people, I'm not a newbie here, i've posted a lot and replied to a lot but for you NEW people doing this on your own, DO NO TRUST THE PEOPLE ON THE OTHER END OF THAT 1-800 number help line. PLEASE, and everyone PLEASE ask to speak with an immigration officer for more advice. The reason behind this is because......

    My wife and I were waiting for our 485 to get processed and low and behold, the post office deemed my house vacant (i don't know why, i've been living htere for 10 years now) so we didn't get our appointment letter AND our denial. So I called to them and only talked to the "help specialist" if you may, and they said to wait while they send me my wife's denial letter...which never came...and after about a month and a half, they finally transfered me to an immigration officer who said "O, you could've just made an infopass appointment and come in and get what you need".....AFTER 45 days had passed they finally tell me this..so i went today with my wife and the officer behind the counter said, "well its already pass 33 days and the 485 you were trying to get approved is already cancelled...so you have to reapply". Who would've thought the help line...DOESN'T HELP. If you're looking for just basic info yea, they'll do that but if you need anything else? PLEASE speak to an immigration officer or just do an infopass appointment. I booked one within 3 days and all this time the help line people told me to "not worry it'll be there shortly (which wasn't)". I've enver had any problems with USCIS only with their SUB contracted out telephone routing system. I wouldn't have had any issue with them if they offered to transfer me there but they make it sound like asking for an immigration officer is a big no no. So please people, ask for an immigration officer when you call.
