  • I-130 form with lawyer

I just wanted to know if its faster to hire a lawyer to deal with the whole petition? My case is fairly simple I'm a US citizen and I married my boyfriend of 5 years last year so he's my husband now. money isn't a factor here I just want my husband here as soon as possible. So does hiring a lawyer speed up the process? or its just to ease my mind?

please any one with a time line of a I-130 petition please post...thank you very much

A lawyer does not get to go to the front of the line, so has no time advantage that way. If you aren't good at reading directions or don't have time to fill in forms then a lawyer's staff does it if you hire one. Many people complain they make mistakes, don't return calls, and don't send things in as fast as if you were handling it yourself. You will still have to provide all the evidence and information, but wait on somebody else to mail it. If more evidence is requested you will have to wait on the lawyer to notify you, send it to the lawyer, hope his staff doesn't mess around getting it sent back to USCIS. Or you could get notified directly by USCIS and send it to USCIS immediately. In that way, you would be faster than using a lawyer. I can see it both ways. Some people who try to do it on their own can't bother to read the many website offering free step-by-step guides and example forms filled in. They need somebody to spoon feed them.
