  • K1 or K3 Approach

    Hello

I am planning to marry a Filipino. She currently still lives in the Philippines and I live in the States (U.S. Citizen). We are currently planning on applying for a K1 Visa and getting married in the U.S. However; I plan on possibly taking a Job in Germany (under SOFA) for 3-4 years as a Defense Contractor.

This job opportunity would occure within the next 9-12 months. Would taking this job cause problems fo us if we went the K1 Visa approach and then leave the U.S. as soon as we were to get married. We would then live in Germany for 3-4 years and then later re-enter the U.S. after my job is complete in Germany. Would the K3 Visa approach be better in this case i.e. apply for K3 in Germany or from the Philippines when we are ready to return to the U.S?

Appreciate any guidance you could give me.

    Best Regards

If your wife is not going to live in the U.S., she may not be able to keep
    her green card.
