  • Help to get married

I met a man on the internet and we wish to get married. I cannot travel to Africa where he is, but he is able to visit me so we can apply for a fiance visa. He has a few of the negative factors on the visitor visa list and none of the positive factors for getting a visitor visa. He is not a home owner and is under 30 and is single, but he has traveled to 2 other countries other than his national country. How do we go about getting either a visitor visa or fiance visa so we can be married and have no trouble? We really want to do this the right way, but he may not be accepted on a visitor visa due to factors I mentioned and from what I read we will not be able to apply for a fiance visa since we have not actually met.

    Please help me

Well if you haven't met you can't apply for fiance visa sorry. You need to meet and have proof of meeting in the last 2 years when you send in 129f petition. Are you sure you want to marry someone you have not met and only online. Africa is a high fraud country so if he has issues already with visa's not liking your chances to much. I don't mean to sound cruel or abrupt but you need to look into this more thoroughly before obligating yourself financially and emotionally to bring someone to the US.

Well, I wasn't looking so much to file the fiance visa until after we met, but I would like to get him here to meet him first and get to know him a bit then after meeting he will go back to his country (which is Lebanon by the way. He is only working in the Democratic Republic of Congo which is a dangerous place for me to travel to ---not only according to the state department but also for health concerns for myself since I have had many troubles and am very afraid of contracting Malaria or anything else if I went to the Congo---, which is why we want him to come to visit for the meeting requirement on the fiance visa) or return to his job in the Congo region and await the fiance visa process that we will apply for.

My problem is that he doesn't have any strong factors for the visitor visa (being a single man under the age of 30 and not a home owner in his native land), and I do not know if the Immigration department will deny a visitor application if I put on the application (which, again, I would like to be upfront & honest about) that we met online and are interested in pursuing a fiance visa but we want to meet each other in the US so that I can avoid traveling to an unsafe country.

As I said, I want to do this the right way and I know that meeting him in person is a requirement.

I definitely agree with you Barbarajlw! People should be careful about online dating especially with foreigners! Just give sometimes to know the person that you are involved with. Remember the movie " Not Without My Daughter"!
