  • Fiance visa help

I'm a US Citizen and my Fiance is in the Philippines. I was born in US but grew up in the Philippines and stayed there for quite a long time. We've been together for more than 4 years already. I just got here in US last March 2011 and started working last April 2011. Currently, I have 2 part-time jobs. Right now, I am staying at my Uncle's house and he is also willing to sponsor my petition. I plan to file a fiance visa for her and would like to marry her once she gets here. Is is possible? And how long would it take? and I would also want to know the estimate cost for the whole processing of the petition. Any answer would be a great help for me and would really appreciate it.

Yes you can do that. It may take 6-8 months, maybe longer. I'm not sure if Manila allows a joint sponsor on a fiance application. Look up form I-864P and see if your salary meets 125% of the poverty guidelines.

There's a number of fees plus incidental expenses like getting to the medical exam and embassy.

    USCIS:
    Petition for fiance $340

    In Manila:
Medical exam at St Lukes ??$$
    Visa application around $350
    Courier fee ??$$
Fees to obtain documents like police report ??$$
(I only know London fees. A Filapina could answer better)

    After marriage in the US:
    Adjustment of Status $1070

From what I know form another visa site the Phillipines do not allow co sponsors

I've a lot of Filipino friends who asked someone to sponsor for them and actually worked out, but the difference was they were here in the country for 5yrs because they were just naturalized citizens. In my case, I was born here and a natural citizen but was raised in the Philippines. Now I came back this march (almost 4 months in the country) and maybe will be staying here for good. I want to file a fiance visa for my girlfriend for 4 years. Is this possible? -brysteff

My bad. What I meant was,I would like to file a fiance visa for my girlfriend (We've been together for four years). I just arrived here last March 30 of this year, but I'm a citizen since birth. Is this is possible that I could already file a fiance visa for her? I have a full time job and a part time job and if it isn't enough, my uncle is willing to sponsor me. And yeah I'll marry her as soon as she arrives or at least 90days if I could already file a petition and if my uncle could sponsor me.

As I stated before. YES you can file right now.

Your uncle won't be sponsoring you. You will be sponsoring a fiance for a K1 visa. Your income will need to be a little over $18,000 on your own because Manila does not allow a joint sponsor (uncle) to sponsor another person's fiance is what was reported in this thread before.

I earn $9.25 an hr as a part time server and I work 40hrs a week. It should make me $19,240 a year. But I don't know if this should be enough because this is just a part time job. Could I ask an affidavit of support from my uncle?

How many times do you have to be told you can't have a co sponsor . Your income is sufficient. Manila does not allow co sponsors

I'm sorry. Ok, can I file a petition even if I still don't have an income tax? I just arrived here March of this year.
