  • Affidavit of support for K1 visa's

I am a US citizen that just graduated from medical school. I want to bring my fiancee from Nepal over here. Currently i have no job because i just graduated. My dads a doctor moms a lead software programmer so money is not a problem. My mom or my dad has agreed to sponsor my fiance with the I-134 form. Is that OK? or it must be ONLY me who is providing the affidavit for my fiance? I have no income so putting my name on the affidavit is point less. My mom/dad was just going to sponsor her as a daughter in law. Any problems with that?

No they cannot sponsor her as a daughter in law. You are the fiance and USC? then you only can sponsor her and your father can be your co sponsor once you get to that stage which is further down the road when she gets ready for interview after approval. With your 129f petition it is now a matter of gathering evidence of your meeting in the last 2 years letter of intent to marry within 90 days of her arrival and all other documents you need which you can find here in the guides for fiance visa. Also will need a G325 one for her and one for you signed in person.

Thanks alot for your quick reply. I am the fiancee and an US citizen. I understand i have to be the primary sponsor but if i don't an income at the moment will they approved the affidavit of support by my cosponsors (mom/dad) even if my affidavit of support is pretty much blank?

P.S. I got the petition part sorted out, im just worried about the upcoming future regarding the sponsor and cosponsor of the affidavit of supports.

No it's no problem your parents will co sponsor and you also will fill in a 134 even if it is blank, just means that your parents are responsible to get him here and then once you start working and you file AOS and do I-864 affidavit you still may need them for that as you would not have been working that long. Read all you can on I-864 at AOS level and get aquainted with the system as best you can. Many couples start this way as the fiance/ee is a student wanting to file 129f petition and they use a co sponsor for this to happen. It's when it comes to AOS and you need to make sure you will be making 125% of the poverty line for 2 ppl household if not your parents can help out there too.
