Hi, I went to Amman, Jordan December 2009 to live with my friends and to look into starting a new business for myself. While I was there, I met a man, fell in love, and married him during the year. We were married on December 9, 2010, but I had to leave Jordan suddenly because my mother in USA became gravely ill. Now I want to bring my husband, a Jordanian here to the USA to live with me. Can someone help me with this process?
I spoke with the local Immigration Clinic in Raleigh, North Carolina, but they referred me to lawyers. I do not have a great deal of money to pay lawyers for this help at this time. I do know this is a costly process.
One problem I face is that I only have 3 pictures of my husband and I together. We did not have a big wedding party, but we had some pics taken with my cell phone, but it was dropped off a balcony by a child in Amman, Jordan and all my pics were lost except for the 3 my husband had on his cell phone. I have heard the Embassy in Jordan will require 8 photos of us together, but I only have the 3 pics.
I have a copy of our marriage contract and it has been translated from Arabic to English. I also have a copy of his birth certificate, Jordanian driver license and passport, and all have been translated to English. I have all the other items as necessary, passport pics (current of just 2 days for him and me.)
I also have shared finances with him for the past few months, so we have wired each other money for assistance as a wife and husband should.
I am getting his name added to the deed of my home this Tuesday.
I feel all these things should show proof of our relationship/marriage. I am just concerned about not having enough Marital wedding pictures to satisfy the U.S. Embassy in Jordan.
Can anyone help me with this process and give me some advice? Would it be better to just bring him here on a Fiance Visa and just pretend we never married overseas? I don't really feel comfortable with that as we are legally married.
Thanks for any advice or help!
