Interpretation of the validity of the US Citizen's passport!??

Hi all! We're just about to turn in the I-129F Package with my American Fiance but he can't find his birth certificate. And we're not sure about the interpretation of the validity of his passport.It was issued 10 years ago but it's valid only 4 years more. Is it OK or it has to have at least 5 years of validity left. Thanks for your help!!

My husband did not have a BC only a birth card from when he was born and that was fine and the passport should be ok my hubbies was and we did 129 last year and his expired 2014
