  • We only met for 1 week in person

Hi! I'm new here. So pardon me if this topic has been brought up earlier or years ago. I'm still in the process of getting through each possible topics here.

Me and my boyfriend are thinking of getting a fiance visa. We knew each other last February 2011. He came here in the Philippines last September 2011 and stayed for a week. During his stay here, we took countless shots, kept receipts, hotel vouchers and etc. We spent his last 6th and 7th day in Manila. Our communication is consistent up to now. We almost chat through Skype and exchange e-mails like everyday. We have so far like 800 emails exchanged since Feb 2011 and I do not know also if this is necessary to print all 800 emails if ever we file for k1 visa.

My main concern also goes to the thought of filing for such visa even though we only met for a week in person. Will we likely be denied during my interview in the Manila embassy? I do also keep so many Skype snapshots of him so I do not know if this is also necessary to be part of the proof of our communication. We are not engaged (not like he proposed here in PI when we met nor does he have a ring for me yet) but we are truly serious for each other. So instead of stashing some cash for his comeback here, he thought of filing a K1 visa.

Also, any idea how much in US dollars should my boyfriend have (something to do with his job---I dont know what that is called) as a requirement before we file for K1 visa? I know, I got so many questions. But I am really hoping y'all can help me out with my uncertainties. I have tried to visit some Visa sites but it seems it is so not detailed.

    K1 Visa

    Hi!
In applying for US Fiancee Visa, you need to meet several requirements. Some of which is that you need to show proof of your relationship, which I think you have like the pictures, chats, and the fact that you have been in constant communication. Another requirement is that you have met each other face to face within 2 years before filing of your application for the fiancee visa. The fact that your fiance visited you here in the Philippines will qualify you to have met the requirement of having met your fiancee face to face. Although it would be better if your fiancee is constantly visiting you here in the Philippines.
