At what point do we pay the fee for the I-485. Immediately after entering the country?

The I-485 is the main form for the adjustment of status application. You submit that application once you are married so your fiancee can change status from K1 to permanent resident. You can pay the fee by submitting a check with your application. The instructions for the I-485 include what you should submit along with the form.
