  • Affidavit of Support Minimum Income and Assets

Hello I have been unemployed for 6 years awaiting Social Security Disability. I was awarded my disability in January and applied for a I-129F K-1 visa for my fiance and was just approved. My question is my annual income is below the required 125% poverty guidlines by $4000 dollars but I have more than $90,000dollars in savings. Can I qualify to be the sole sponser for my finace with just cash assests? Also we will be living with my mother sinse she is elderly and it would work out best for all of us. Would my mother need to write a letter stating she approves of my fiance living with her or would she also need to apply as a co-sponcer, and how long before I get a responce form NVS after getting the approcal notice from USICS?
    Thank you in advance!

Financial assets count if they correspond to at least three (or maybe five) times the missing sum. You would need a letter from the bank showing how much you have there. If $4,000 is missing, then $20,000 would be enough. However, if you live with your mother you should probably count three people in your household, which increases the income requirement a little bit. Your mother doesn’t have to write any letter. You should get a letter from the NVC within a few weeks informing you that the paperwork has been forwarded to the embassy.
