Let me give you the full story here.
My wife is a Norwegian citizen, she went to the US embassy in Oslo today to get her H4 visa.
At the embassy, apparently the visa officer "looked up the I-797" and they couldn't find it. So the embassy sent an email to Washington, and the VO told my wife that this is fairly common, and the Washington folks should be getting back to them very shortly.
My wife's visa was "approved" and she was told that she would be getting back her passport within 2 weeks.
My concern is, what was it that they were trying to look up and couldn't find.
Also, I should mention that my application status could not be found online on the USCIS.gov website, while I was waiting for my approval. Does this have anything to do with the US embassy not finding whatever it is they were looking for?
I am just wondering if anyone else had the same issue.
