Is H1 stamping required for H4 visa

Hi,
I am currently in OPT and my H1 gets active from Oct 11th, 2005. My husband is in INDIA and I am planning to bring him here on H4 by Nov 10th,2005.
Could anybody please let me know if the status change from F1 to H1 is enough for me to send H4 papers to my husband and he can attend the consulate orelse I need to go for stamping before his visit to the consulate.
Any help is appreciated.

Please help me on the question I posted. I am in US now. Is my H1 approval notice enough for my husband to go to visa or do need to get stamping before he goes for H4.
