Can I work outside US for an year while on H1B visa and still be on US payroll?

Due to a death in family, I'm required to be in India for an year. Is it allowed to continue to work remotely from India for the US company for an year and still be part of the US payroll?

Will there be any issues in getting back to US after an year, especially at the port of entry?

This is assuming that my US company is okay to have me on their payroll and permit me to work remotely from India.

Also, my company do not have any office in India...

That's fine for US immigration, tax, and labor purposes. You'll have to find out what [Indian] obligations employers have when hiring employees in India
