Ideally I would have been eligible for the drop box but since last time I got 221g and there was a 'clearance received' marked on my previous visa stamp
so i had to go through interview again and get stuck again. And as I mentioned, only hope is that this time it does not seem to be name check because CV and employer
invitation letter is asked.. as per my lawyer, for Name check they wont need CV etc. Infact I was stuck with name check 221g last time (in 2010) and nothing was asked then.
and it took 6 weeks to clear then. I hope your 221g gets cleared soon. compared to previous years now the 221g process is stream lined and faster for sure. so this time it
may not take 3 months for you.

Many Many Thanks for reply.... You relieved me little bit by saying that now 221 g processing improved a lot in last few years & mine would not take too long this time. You know i work for US based top IT company (BEP company) & have been to US in past as well.. However i had a common muslim name & it seems that i stuck up for name check as usual.... Does the name check gets cleared if you had previous clearance recieved & visa stamped.

    • 221gproblem,
I must say, very good analysis from your end. thanks for this info as even though each one of us has done their own research, how you have differentiated the case types is helpful. Unfortunately for my case I fall under the 1% cases you mentioned i.e. currently under additional administrative processing with a case creation date of Aug24th 2012, Case update date of Nov 5th 2012, and of course 9months and 6 days past still "pending"....

      • Can someone try and check their status now/today on the CEAC site? for some reason any query returns a "Refused" status. I freaked out and called DOS and they said it must be a system error and that my case was NOT refused and is still in fact pending additional admin processing. anyone else face the same issue??

            thanks for the interest.
basically I am concentrating on the hyderabad consulate cases and those belong to Feb 2013 and above.
because they reflect the correct data and current processing time. the reason is if you consider the cases of Jan 2013 or nov-dec 2012, they
would definitely lag due to backlog and holiday season.

Now considering Feb 2013 and above, basically what I do is go case by case status check on CEAC website.

Usually the hyderabad case numbers are of the following range. Following example is for day 140 of the year (that is May 22 interviews in 2013
thats why it starts with 2013140.. and then the next three digits changes for each case, and last 4 digits usually remain as 0001.

            2013140 300 0001 to 2013140 399 0001
            2013140 900 0001 to 2013140 999 0001

there are more case numbers but for an average statistics,
I work on above range of cases for each day (in the above case it is 140 you can do same using 120 which belongs to 30th April (2013)

By doing this over different range of days and case numbers I noticed that the case status falls in following 4 categories

1 - Issued (immediately that is because the case creation date and case update date are within gap of 2 to 3 days.. so that means no administrative processing)
2 - Refused (again immediately like above)
3 - Issued (delayed issued because case creation date and last update date is over period of 3 to 5 weeks, that means it gone through administrative processing before issued)
4 - Refused (delayed refused, may be after going through admin processing it is eventually refused).
5 - Ready (very few cases are stuck in ready may be because the guy did not appear for interview after the OFC or schedule or whatever)
6 - Administrative processing (with the dates updated being close to interview day or updated to recent days)

So based on the my data analysis I see that out of every 100 cases, 80% are number 1.
            12% are number 2.
5% are number 3 and those are the cases which went through normal administrative processing with document submission or CV etc...those are all cleared in 4 to 5 weeks because
I see that between the case creation and final case update (issued) it is a gap of 1 month or less than 5 weeks.
number 4 is less than 1%. I only saw 2 cases since Jan 2013 which are delayed and refused. Usually if they are refused like number 2, they are refused within 2 days of
the interview (may be those are tourist visa or some other visa which are refused during interview itself).
Number 5 is also less than 1%.sis.
Finally there are 2% of cases whose administrative processing is pending more than 4 weeks and in such cases I assume the documents or nothing is asked and it went in to name check or additional processing after normal administrative processing is finished. If you fall under regular administrative processing then you should be cleared in around 4 to 5 weeks max with a probability of 99%. Only additional processing case should be pending beyond 5 weeks.
And again based on my 2010 221g experience, name check also should clear in 2 months. some people are unfortunate that their cases hop from one type of processing to other.. so thats why they spend 1 month in regular processing, then 2 months in name check then employment check etc and it is really unfortunate. percentage of such cases is again less than 1% so hopefully you dont fall in that category. Also for such cases the update dates are close to interview date, or the update has not been changed since last 4 to 6 weeks. If you case status date is changing frequently then it is good sign. it is coming to clearance or progressing well unless they put it in to different category of administrative processing which will again take more weeks.
But again good luck.. the chances of getting refused after going in to 221g is almost zero.. it is just the matter of time. Enjoy!!
Thanks for sharing very detailed information. Indeed this is very good analysis. Lot of people will be benefited with this knowledge. Time well spent.

Guys thanks for acknowledging my efforts.
I am continuously following up the cases for good and praying to come out of this situation soon and praying for you guys too.
Today my case date is again updated to 31 May 2013 but still in admin processing. This is the third update date this week (28, 29 and 31 may now)
so I am sure something is happening with my case. I am hoping next week will bring some good news.
Its not just me I have seen many other cases are updated to 31 May 2013. They are
              2013140 943 0001, and 944, 946, 947 as well.
I heard that even if we send a email to consulate to ask for status update, the case status date changes on that day or next day but in my case
I have never send mail to consulate asking for status.
Please let me know if anyone else is seeing the status date updated to 31st May. May be monday will bring good news for some of us. In past I have
seen the forums (infact in this same thread), there are guys who said status date updated on Friday and then they got it issued next Monday.
Also this week had a holiday (May 27), so they cases which are supposed to be issued today may be issued on Monday.
              GOOOOD LUCKKKK GUYS!!!!!

I have sent couple of mails to the consulate for status check but status update date didnt change on CEAC.
My wife's interview was on 25th April, so it is 5th week running, update didn't change to may 31st, it is still May 29th.
May be because we needed to withdraw passport for an urgent travel need. From chennai pdf i noticed cases which are marked "submit PPT" too had pending administrative processing message on CEAC website
Hoping to receive an email from consulate to submit passport

                    • Does anyone know what happened with "Mirza's" case. I didnt know what to do anymore so read all 30 pages of this particular forum and was following mirza's case as it was quite similar to mine. No updates from him for a while....

At this time I think my case is the oldest one on this forum (correct me if i am wrong)

just a quick background with my case

Interview date (also case creation Date) = Aug 24th 2012
                      Case Update date = Nov 5 2012

                      280 days and counting!!

My house, car, mail etc left unattended all this time. No friends/family who can support. All my wife's Dr's appts postponed indefinitely. Had to cancel my landscaping and pest control cuz no access for them to my backyard. Working 7pm to 4am IST for the past 8months straight. Luckily my company and management is ok (so far) with me working from here.....

My company Law firm has contacted the DOS and US embassy in new delhi as well. My local CA senator's office also inquired with DOS about my case. No updates besides some personal replies stating " we are currently working on all cases.....rest assured decision will be made soon...." but no updates still.

@tahersub4t and @221gproblem....pls share your contact email or #, maybe we can talk and keep our hopes high.

My H1 still shows admin processing with status update date of may 24th. My wife's case number is 0001 and mine is 0002, may be that is why I am lagging behind. Praying and hoping it gets issued on Monday.

Guys I am travelling and away from PC so could not reply to some messages to me. Also its amazing as well ad scary to see couple of folks hanging around since long time. Salute your patience. Basically 221g is like a jail. Especially for folks who came from US are stuck in this jail. We just hope to get released soon to go back to our US house and belongings. Actually I did a mistake. I should have kept my stuff in storage and sell my car before coming here. I am worried after seeing some posts though they are very few. I have a very common name and I can be victim too. I hope my case does not end up in additional processing or name check. I wish same for others.

                              • e3 under admin processing

I am an Indian origin Australian Citizen.
I first traveled to US in 2001 on JI for six months.
I then traveled on B1/B2 in 2003 and converted to H1B and got visa stamped in 2005 in Ottawa which was valid until 2008. Later in year 2005 I resigned and decided to move to Australia.

Now I am currently working in Calgary, and recently got a very good job offer in US. I applied for E3 Visa along with my family. The consulate approved my families visa but gave me the white admin processing page (no document requested). When I asked the VO how long it will take he said it wont take months it will only take few weeks.

I have a common Muslim first and middle name but not the last name, so I assume they are doing some background check on me.

From 2008 to 2013 I have traveled to US 4 times on Visa Waiver Program (EASTA). I have traveled to US as early as in March 2013 and in Dec 2012 without any problem. I have also traveled extensively all around the world (15 countries), including one Islamic country (Bangladesh) in the last 5 years. I have never had any issue getting visa/ entering USA. In US and other countries I visited, I have got few speeding and parking tickets which I have always paid in a timely manner. I would like to find out if they are going to get clearance from all the countries that I have visited ?
                                Any help will be appreciated.
