As Salaamu Alaikum Wr Wb Mohammed,

What is the process for my wife to pickup my Visa (if granted). Do I have to write a letter and give it to her which she can show in VFS center to pickup my visa.

    Please share details.

    Thanks,

    • welcome back folks...one more week has passed. Any date changes out there from end of last week? Mine still says June6th.....

@tahersub4t, Yes there is a standard procedure for that. Your wife will need a letter signed by you giving her authorization to pick up the passport on your behalf. She will also need a photo copy of some id proof of yours along with her own id proof.

ASKM brother, it's a tough situation to be but don't get too disappointed, Inshallah everything will be fine. In summer kids were busy playing with cousins and my 4 year old has started KG and he is loving it here, keeping kids occupied is important and in my opinion preschool in India is better than U.S.

My first visa was F1 in 2001, didn't even have to go to embassy, used drop box facility in Hyderabad and Visa arrived by post.

First H1 stamping in 2005: Attended interview at a consulate neighboring U.S., was working in EVC model, all documents were good and the VO almost wrote approval on a slip, but asked me to be seated right in front of her window. I waited there for about 3 hours and have seen various types of interviews, meantime, she called me one more time looked at something and again asked me to be seated. In the end she called me and after a discussion with another VO handed me a form, no documents to submit and processing got cleared in 8 weeks.

Second H1 stamping in 2008: With 2005 experience, I choose to attend interview in India along with my wife. This time, I was employed full time with a top U.S. tech company. Documents, interview, everything was good. But I was asked if I have done any thesis etc.., I mentioned that I have gone through this last time. One more officer came and basically they were unsure what to do and after 45 min going through the documents they gave me a white 221g. Surprisingly VO said sorry. After 6 weeks, I got a approval message asking to submit passport, which we did but did not get them back, after waiting for a week upon inquiring we were told that some additional processing is required. Which is the dreaded Name Check, this took 6 months for clearance. Because of uncertainty, I was paying $1500 rent, all bills etc..it was a challenging time.

Third H1 interview in 2013: Due to some GC audit issues, I have to again come back to EVC model. Interview was decent, no problem answering any questions or any documentation issues, VO asked if our kids are U.S. citizens, said we are all set retained our passports and asked if we have read the white pamplet, finally gave a white 221g. Experience makes one wise , this time vacated apartment, no bills except car left in U.S., stuff garaged.

This time again don't know how long this takes, have known people personally who got cleared in a week, 8 weeks and for some took a year. My observation is more common names take longer to get processed. Patience and keeping busy is key, hope this process ends soon.

            All the best

This 60 days, 90 days, 4 months , 6 montsh are only important to us and not for US Consulate. They dont understand human values.... I am waiting for H4 for my spouse since Dec 12

Our PA was on Dec 28...
Just a wild guess that popped up now... My spouse's passport doesn't have a Last Name an dI entered it as LNU in DS160. Is this a reason for AP for 6 months???

Highly unlikely. LNU and FNU are fairly common.

                            • Dates Not Moving

                              Hello Guys,

Now I am scared... why are dates not being updated for our cases.

I had almost 5 -6 updates since my case creation date, like once a week atleast. But its almost two weeks and no updates to my case.

By now I realize, the research I did is going into trash. We cannot predict anything, all my predictions went wrong (nothing new).

I am shocked they did not update any single case (to my knowledge) in these two weeks.

Are they on mass vacation/boycott or what

Hoping for some good news this week .

Lets not loose hope. There is light on the otherside of tunnel.

The dates not moving is not a surprise to me. Actually its when they were moving that I was surprised. My date did not change from Nov 5th to May 30th. I have seen many times for many cases that the dates sometime don't move for months.....I am not saying this will happen to your case, but its something that does happen and like you said, its just about patience!!

                                @azadtous
No, have a "LNU" or "FNU" shouldnt be the reason for any case to be put in AP. Neither does it cause any specific delays...
