        • What does this mean?

          Hi Everyone:

I checked the status today and it says

          "Case Creation Date: 04-Feb-2013
          Status Updated Date: 05-Mar-2013"

"Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. Please follow any instructions provided by the Consular Officer at the time of your interview. If further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved, it will be processed and mailed/available within two business days. "

The status updated date changed to 05-Mar-2013 (today) , any idea what it means??
before that it was 06-Feb-2013 (My original IV date).

I hope its some kind of positive news. Hoping and praying for everyone stuck with 221g.

              Full time employee.

I have called Dept Of State almost every week but of course got the standard reply.
I have sent emails to [email protected] every week and still get the same reply.

Vamshii: How did you get to talk to customer care? Is this for all embassies or just the one you visited. My interview was at Hyd.

              thanks,
              Mirza
              Hi Mirza.

Sorry for a late reply. I havn't been checking the site. Been quite busy.

I called the US customer care and India customer care. The numbers are on the CEAS site. I got reply that it would take 60 days typically. If not I should call them and they try to contact the respective department for the status.
I am also trying to follow up with our attorney.
Yes. My interview was also at Hyd and I guess it is TAL check because my Master's is in Chemistry.

              regards,
              Vamshi

                IV :- 6-Feb-2013

Got email questionnaire same day and replied to email on 07-Feb-2013
My updates on CEAC site says: Admin Processing
But, When I track my passport it says : NO information available. Couple of days ago, it said "passport still with post", but now it gives me no information.

I am a little stressed. My case clearly seems to be a TAL. I am in Pharma field, a full time employee.

Hopefully we all get cleared soon. It is quite an anxious wait.

                    • 221g white paper New Delhi -- 36 days over..

I had my VI on 24th Jan in New Delhi and got a 221g white paper asking for Resume research paper and offer letter from the company (big famous company) in US with all the job responsibilities. I submitted these through a mail on 30th January, 2012. This is my first 221g and was on F1 and OPT for past 4 years.

Its more than 36 days ( 5 weeks). I called up DOS yesterday and the lady asked my passport number, name and DOB. She then said that my application is with New Delhi embassy with administrative processing. I asked her that whether my application has been in DOS and passed on or it hasnt reached at all.. she said the DOS doesnt process visas, it is done my embassies. (I DONT KNOW WHAT THAT MEAN) embassy does background checks?

I was wondering if the email sent is not in the correct format, do they reply asking to send it again? Or they accept whatever we send?

Can someone give me contact numbers for queries in NEW DELHI.

                        Hi,

I had the same experience with the DOS yesterday, they have mentioned like Administrative process is totally handled by Embassy. They asked me to write a letter to the Consulate and get the status of my 221g. But I don't know whether writing a letter to the embassy is a correct option. Anyone contacted the embassy regarding the 221g Administrative Process by sending a mail/letter?

                            • Any suggestions

For those of you who are in the waiting stage, let me tell my story.
I have been in the US for 10 years, and have had one F1 and two H1B stamps done in the past.
I have a very common muslim name. I didn't have any problem at all when i first go my F1 in 2003. After my master's i joined a reputed company as a full time software engineer. When i went to Ottawa embassy for my first H1B stamping in 2007, i was put on admin processing(221g) and it took 6 months to get clearance. Hoping that i wouldn't have to go through the same processing again, i went to chennai embassy in 2010 for my second H1B stamping. Again i was put under 221g and this time it took 13 months to get clearance. Now i am on my third H1B and i have to visit india in a couple of months. I am absolutely not sure where to go for visa stamping. But i am absolutely sure that i would have to go through 221g again, given my name. I am in a dilemma whether to attend the interview in hyderabad or ottawa. Please, any feedback or suggestions.
