    • 221(g) White - Hyderabad

Just wondering if all mates who are responding to this thread have 221(g) White or other colors.

Different colors may have different time lines not to get confuse.

      • waiting to see if something happens by tomorrow

yes mine is white. color thing is mis-leading depending on consulate. I heard 221g white of hyderabad is equivalent to 221g pink of delhi. both needs a questionnaire and additional documents and most of them clear in 3 to 4 weeks unless they decide to do additional administrative processing after normal administrative processing is done.
having gone through this 221g pain in 2010, i know that additional administrative processing (which is usually ticked in blue 221g) takes much longer than normal administrative processing. also in some cases additional is started after normal is finished. so that adds up to the processing time.
My status update is still 29th May and hoping to see some change by tomorrow. Since May 27th was a consulate holiday, the processing done in this week might be slower than normal weeks.

Mine is white with no additional documents asked at new Delhi consulate.
It does to matter what color you get.
Nobody knows what they do in the admin processing so we cannot guess the time frame, rest are just speculations.

          • right.

yes you are right in that sense.
color of paper does not really matter because sometimes if VO does not have a pink he my use white or blue whatever to tick or issue any kind of 221g.
it is just based on what my friend gone through in delhi, he got a pink and the thing which is ticked and this which are asked to submit through email is
exactly same as what i got in hyderabad through white 221g paper.
also last time when i was stuck i got a blue one with additional administrative processing ticked. that time no documents were asked so i assumed it
was a name check. only in case of name check they wont need anything else. this time i got a 221g and they asked CV and invitation letter plus questionnaire.
so i am assuming it is not a name check and it would be faster this time.
only thing we can do in this situation is HOPE and encourage each other.. eventually we know it will be cleared but if we do not encourage and share
each other's cases, it will be difficult time to pass through.
and i am hopeful this time to get it cleared soooooooon.
By the way, i want to tell you, i have a COMMON name. though i believe my case is not stuck in name check this time.

              Hi 221g

When did you appear for interview... I just wana check which visa you apply & how long does it take to get it approve. I am also stuck up in 221 g third time (1st in 2006 for B & 2nd in 2011 for H1). It toook around 3 months to get each cleared off. I am not sure how long will it take as i got wie colour form with no document asked on 26th April . Even i got my wife's H4 stamped two weeks back & m still in 221 G.

Mine is a common last name too, and it's been 3 months so probably it's name check. I was struck earlier for my j1 visa in 2010 and it took 3 weeks then.
                Best of luck.
Keep posting for any new developments and so will I.

                • Hi All,
I just joined this discussion and am unfortunately in the same boat as all of you, actually worse.

I had my intvw on Aug 24th 2012. It has been 9+ months and I am still waiting for the administrative processing to complete. I work full time for a huge corporation and this is not my first H1 stamping. I never had this issue before hence came on vacation last year. Intvw was very small and simple. Basic questions, all answered and the officer said "everything looks good but before I issue you the visa your case needs to go through some processing". Gave me a white 221g with nothing checked, just a case number and they kept my passport and original 797.

My company's law firm have contacted them, my local senator's office inquired on my behalf etc and they all got the same response "case is pending admin processing" etc etc

Anyway, I am still hanging in there and hopefully it will clear soon. FYI, I met someone for whom it took 1 year and 3 days for the processing to complete....

                  good luck y'all....

221gproblem, I would be interested in seeing more details on the research you've been doing with case numbers.

e.g. How many data points are you looking at, over what period, how many per week, etc

i dont know how to find such pdf for hyderabad.

Hyderabad doesn't publish a pdf anymore, they just use CEAC. Unfortunate for those of us who like analyzing data.

Why don't you call US Embassy and ask them to escalate the issue. If processing takes more than 60 days, you can request them to escalate the case. See if that helps.

Unfortunately, no one can estimate, how long this will take. I hope it finishes quickly.

As I mentioned all details in my first post, I attended interview at hyderabad consulate on May 22 and my case is H1 renewal 2nd time stamping no changes in company.
Ideally I would have been eligible for the drop box but since last time I got 221g and there was a 'clearance received' marked on my previous visa stamp
so i had to go through interview again and get stuck again. And as I mentioned, only hope is that this time it does not seem to be name check because CV and employer
invitation letter is asked.. as per my lawyer, for Name check they wont need CV etc. Infact I was stuck with name check 221g last time (in 2010) and nothing was asked then.
and it took 6 weeks to clear then. I hope your 221g gets cleared soon. compared to previous years now the 221g process is stream lined and faster for sure. so this time it
may not take 3 months for you.

                                Hi Georgia,
                                thanks for the interest.
basically I am concentrating on the hyderabad consulate cases and those belong to Feb 2013 and above.
because they reflect the correct data and current processing time. the reason is if you consider the cases of Jan 2013 or nov-dec 2012, they
would definitely lag due to backlog and holiday season.

Now considering Feb 2013 and above, basically what I do is go case by case status check on CEAC website.

Usually the hyderabad case numbers are of the following range. Following example is for day 140 of the year (that is May 22 interviews in 2013
thats why it starts with 2013140.. and then the next three digits changes for each case, and last 4 digits usually remain as 0001.

                                2013140 300 0001 to 2013140 399 0001
                                2013140 900 0001 to 2013140 999 0001

there are more case numbers but for an average statistics,
I work on above range of cases for each day (in the above case it is 140 you can do same using 120 which belongs to 30th April (2013)

By doing this over different range of days and case numbers I noticed that the case status falls in following 4 categories

1 - Issued (immediately that is because the case creation date and case update date are within gap of 2 to 3 days.. so that means no administrative processing)
2 - Refused (again immediately like above)
3 - Issued (delayed issued because case creation date and last update date is over period of 3 to 5 weeks, that means it gone through administrative processing before issued)
4 - Refused (delayed refused, may be after going through admin processing it is eventually refused).
5 - Ready (very few cases are stuck in ready may be because the guy did not appear for interview after the OFC or schedule or whatever)
6 - Administrative processing (with the dates updated being close to interview day or updated to recent days)

So based on the my data analysis I see that out of every 100 cases, 80% are number 1.
                                12% are number 2.
5% are number 3 and those are the cases which went through normal administrative processing with document submission or CV etc...those are all cleared in 4 to 5 weeks because
I see that between the case creation and final case update (issued) it is a gap of 1 month or less than 5 weeks.
number 4 is less than 1%. I only saw 2 cases since Jan 2013 which are delayed and refused. Usually if they are refused like number 2, they are refused within 2 days of
the interview (may be those are tourist visa or some other visa which are refused during interview itself).
Number 5 is also less than 1%.
Finally there are 2% of cases whose administrative processing is pending more than 4 weeks and in such cases I assume the documents or nothing is asked and it went in to name check or additional processing after normal administrative processing is finished. If you fall under regular administrative processing then you should be cleared in around 4 to 5 weeks max with a probability of 99%. Only additional processing case should be pending beyond 5 weeks.
And again based on my 2010 221g experience, name check also should clear in 2 months. some people are unfortunate that their cases hop from one type of processing to other.. so thats why they spend 1 month in regular processing, then 2 months in name check then employment check etc and it is really unfortunate. percentage of such cases is again less than 1% so hopefully you dont fall in that category. Also for such cases the update dates are close to interview date, or the update has not been changed since last 4 to 6 weeks. If you case status date is changing frequently then it is good sign. it is coming to clearance or progressing well unless they put it in to different category of administrative processing which will again take more weeks.
But again good luck.. the chances of getting refused after going in to 221g is almost zero.. it is just the matter of time. Enjoy!!
